Eye Exams

Vision Therapy/Perceptual Evaluation
VISION IS MUCH MORE THAN 20/20 VISUAL ACUITY. Do your eyes feel tired after doing periods of close work or computer activities? Does your child have difficulties concentrating and completing his or her school work? These types of problems can be related to inadequate visual skills such as poor focusing, eye teaming, and eye tracking or conditions such as strabismus (eye turns) and amblyopia.
Our comprehensive visual examination will reveal any problems that exist in these areas. If these problems are having a negative effect on your life, a vision therapy evaluation can be performed and vision therapy instituted if necessary.
The majority of what is taught in school comes through the visual system. For children with school difficulties, a visual perceptual evaluation can also be performed to determine if problems in the perceptual area (such as visual memory, visual discrimination, visual-motor integration, directionality, and visual conceptualization) might be affecting school performance.
